Another way to snag a domain, is use WhoIs to lookup the contact, and contact them directly. Just tell them that you'll pay them to re-register and sell it to you. For a couple hundred dollars, they're likely to make the effort, and unlikely to try to mess with you (as you can walk away and grab a different domain), and it probably more assured than trying to stalk the site and go through the auction game.
