If you want people to remember you (and most of us do) you need to relate to them on an emotional level. I’m not talking about spilling your guts to them; I’m talking about giving them some type of experience that will trigger a positive emotional reaction when they think of you.
One of the most common ways to do this is to make people laugh. If you are naturally funny and you can make people laugh this will trigger an emotional recollection of their interaction with you. Laughter is generally a positive thing. This is especially true if you can get the audience (or person) to experience the humor in real time.
One of the best ways I know to make and emotional connection with others is by telling stories. People naturally relate to stories. They can put themselves in the place of the main character and they can experience what she is experiencing.
The next time you want to create a positive impression on someone – influence their perception – don’t dazzle them with statistics. Tell a story. Make them laugh. Make an emotional connection
